The Harbour Club at WestEdge Pays it Forward With a Gift That’s Changing the Lives of Charleston’s Young Professionals

Fifteen of Charleston’s best and brightest young professionals have been given a gift they never saw coming… a scholarship that covers Membership Initiation Fees for the Harbour Club at WestEdge. The Club, which recently moved from an historic property on Prioleau Street to 22 WestEdge has quickly become THE place to be for up-and-comers in the Charleston community. Membership has exploded and is attracting professionals from all walks of life including doctors, lawyers, corporate executives and entrepreneurs. Now the Club is welcoming the Harbour Club Future Leaders Class of 2021. They are young, dynamic and making a difference in people’s lives every day which is why they were nominated and chosen for the honor.

The generous scholarship money was anonymously given by one of the Club’s board members. The Club then partnered with current Members as well as important Lowcountry organizations such as, YWCA, Charleston Interfaith Group, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, College of Charleston, The Citadel, and The Coastal Community Foundation to identify people they felt would be an outstanding addition to the Club. Of the 35 nominated, 15 were chosen. All stood out because of their community activism, strong work ethic and enthusiasm for mentoring others. “These young professionals embody the best Charleston has to offer.” says Harbour Club Board Chair Colin Smoak. “They are an extraordinary investment in the future of our Club.”

The Club is already looking for the next scholarship investors and anticipates there being a Future Leaders Class every year.
